September 5, 2003Douglas Grean, (co-)producer and musician on several of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS vocalist Scott Weiland's solo projects is currently in the studio with Scott working on new VELVET REVOLVER songs, as well as songs for the up-and-coming singer/songwriter Emma Ejwertz. Click here for a picture of Scott and Emma at Scott's studio, and here for a picture of Scott playing keyboards on Emma's song "Mr. Sweetheart" (which Scott also co-wrote and sang on). You can also download "Mr. Sweetheart" (mp3) and a cover of NIRVANA's "Heart Shaped Box" (mp3),which has Scott on backing vocals.
As previously reported, VELVET REVOLVER, the new band featuring Weiland, GUNS N' ROSES alumni Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, and David Kushner of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, entered a Los Angeles studio earlier this week to record one song (rumored to be titled "Loving The Aliens (Sometimes)") with producer Josh Abraham (STAIND, ORGY, POWERMAN 5000). The group, who also recently recorded a power ballad called "Fall To Pieces", according to Grean, have yet to finalize the producer for their forthcoming debut album, tentatively due in February 2004 through RCA Records. Check out several studio session pictures here.
